Joseph Winberry, O.D.
Dr. Joseph Winberry earned a B.S. in Biology
with a minor in Chemistry from Dickinson College. He earned
his Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry
in 1987 where he was awarded the Harold Kuhn Memorial Award
by the American Optometric Foundation. Dr. Winberry completed
the Wharton School of Business Chief Executive Optometrist
program in 2008. In addition to primary care optometry, Dr.
Winberry is particularly interested in orthokeratology (the
use of rigid gas-permeable contact lenses to reshape the cornea
and reduce dependency on contact lenses) and helping patients
resolve issues of eyestrain and fatigue related to computer
use. Dr. Winberry has been practicing optometry in central
Pennsylvania for more than 20 years and served twice as the
secretary/ treasurer of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.
Outside of his optometric practice, Dr. Winberry’s interests
include astronomy (Astronomical Society of Harrisburg), model
railroading, and motorcycles. He has traveled Route 66 across
the United States by motorcycle and has observed the night
sky over much of the Eastern United States.
