Dr. Neil Bleakley was raised in Newport News, Virginia. After earning his bachelors degree from the University of Virginia, Dr. Bleakley was commissioned into the United States Air Force. He was stationed in the United States, Turkey, and Vietnam from 1964 to 1977, and from 1977 to 1982 he served in the D.C. Air National Guard. Following his first commission in the Air Force, Dr. Bleakley received his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama Medical Center’s School of Optometry. He then practiced optometry in the Air Force until he resigned his commission in 1977. Dr. Bleakley then began his private practice of optometry in Northern Virginia and joined Allegany Optometry’s Winchester staff in 2002. In his free time, Dr. Bleakley enjoys reading about history, following D.C. sports teams, and spending time with his family.
